On June 14th 2012, Amal presented Leucan representative Marie-Josée Bordeleau with a cheque for $12, 000, intended for the Leucan-CSN Summer Camp. This camp is one-of-a-kind in Quebec, allowing children to undergo treatments for different cancers while their families enjoy a real holiday and forget, if only for a moment, that their child is sick.
“Sorbet & Pétales” was the first fundraiser held by the Amal Foundation, a fashion show showcasing the local talent. The swanky creations were presented from designers Valérie Dumaine, DimitriChris, Leonardo Bennotti, Crazy about Black and Masabni. Hosted by Jamie Orchard of Global Montreal, the event included live performances by Black Snake Circus and Rebelles et Vagabonds – “École de danse à Laval”. The soirée was held at Montreal’s renowned Time Supper Club and ended with a tombola which included prizes from Lasik MD, Gym Montreal and Stokes, to just name a few.
