DEC 2017: RECOGNITION CEREMONY

On December 18^th, we proudly hosted a recognition ceremony where Mark Saykaly, Chairman of Cedars Cancer Foundation, was presented with a donation of $30,000 for Sarah’s Fund for Cedars. The Amal team also met with Sarah Cook herself, Jeff Shamie (President and CEO of the Cedars Cancer Foundation) and the Cedars team at the Montreal Children’s earlier in December to present the donation.

This sum will fund Wifi for children on Sarah’s Floor undergoing treatment at the MUHC’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division. This will also help with funding for a safety officer, which is crucial for Children’s bone marrow transplant program. Without an accredited transplant program, this potentially lifesaving therapy could not be offered at the Children’s.

The recognition ceremony gathered many of generous donors, sponsors and partners.  We would like to thank all our major sponsors including Lasik MD, Citalfort, Le Pois Penché, Imadake, SuWu, McKibbins Irish Pub, Bird Bar, Chez Wafi, Bercy, Allison Cordner Photography, Infopresse and Ensuite Media including many of our other community partners such as Mad Science and Concordia University.

Finally, we would also like to thank our incredible volunteers who have contributed to the success of our fundraising events. Over the past five years, the Amal Foundation raised more than $125,000 for various Canadian partner charities helping children with physical or mental disabilities.
