JULY 2016: Amal Foundation stands out at the Spartan Race!
Last Sunday, for the third year in a row, the Amal team participated in the very famous Spartan Race at Owl’s Head on Sunday July 17th. We took on the challenge and succeeded with a team of runners who were more than motivated, and all had the same goal of supporting children suffering from a chronic illness or handicap.
Our team was formed by two groups of runners; the Sprint team, who ran the usual course and the Junior team, for whom the course had been modified and thought especially for. We joined forces with the Spartan team to create an adapted course, which would allow everyone to take on the challenge, no matter the handicap. It was an initiative to include children suffering from chronic illness into our society and show them that everything is possible. Unfortunately, with the anticipated heat wave, they could not take part in the race because of health issues.
Nonetheless, the event was a raging success, and we collected 40% of the $12,500 collected in all Eastern Canada by the fundraiser program of the Spartan Race, $5000 that is.
Notwithstanding the extreme heat, the Sprint team pulled together and helped each other all the way through the course to cross the finish line and celebrate their success together. The ten volunteers representing the foundation did not go unnoticed. Many runners have said that it was their contagious energy and their endless encouragements that gave them the motivation to surpass themselves.
A huge thank you to everyone who collaborated, directly or indirectly, to the success of Amal Foundation’s participation in the Spartan Race. It was a day filled with emotions and challenges, which could not have been surpassed without you. Thank you to our volunteers, who are simply incredible. And finally, thank you to the Spartan team, with whom it is easy to make things happen, and change the world for children who do not have the health they deserve.
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS
